GROUP CHAIR - TDS GROUP
£45,000 per annum
TDS Group is the UK’s leading tenancy deposit protection and resolution service provider. Committed to creating social value, we are invested in resolving disputes effectively, raising standards and making life easier for businesses and consumers in the UK property sector and beyond.
We are a government-approved, customer-focused, award-winning non-profit distributing organisation, backed by Propertymark and RICS, the leading professional bodies in the property sector in the UK. We employ 200 people across three UK locations and are rated as a #3 Best 100 not for profit company.
We currently protect over 1.8 million deposits valued at £2.3bn and manage 20,000 disputes a year across the UK. We support businesses and consumers through online tools, guidance, education, and training.
We have achieved double digit revenue growth to £22m pa and are transforming our products and services offering through a common technology platform, partnerships, and investments in PropTech companies. Since 2022 we have operated the New Homes Ombudsman Service, offered a new mediation/conciliation service, and launched a tenant lifecycle app, tlyfe, to consumers.
Our longstanding Group Chair will be retiring in March 2024, and we are seeking a replacement Chair who can build on his legacy and work with our Chief Executive and Executive team to drive the company to greater success. Key responsibilities include:
-
Providing strategic direction and leadership to the Board and the organisation.
-
Ensuring high standards of governance, accountability, and performance.
-
Fostering effective communication and collaboration among Board members, staff, stakeholders, and the wider sector.
-
Supporting and challenging the CEO and senior management in delivering the TDS Group’s purpose.
-
Representing and promoting the TDS Group’s interests and reputation at a national level.
We are looking for you to bring strong experience of organisational governance at Board level, gained either as a Chair or as a senior non-executive director. We will want to see evidence that you are aligned with our social purpose, strategic priorities and our core values of customer service, fairness, making a difference and teamwork.
We work with tens of thousands of agents/landlords and millions of tenants and are keen to receive applications from candidates who have experience working with businesses and consumers in customer-first organisations, who have a good understanding of the application of technology to drive business growth.
Candidates with experience of working with government would be a bonus but previous experience of working within the property sector is not an essential requirement.
Our Board meets about 10 times a year and we anticipate that the Group Chair will spend approximately 3-4 days per month on Group business. We have a hybrid approach to working but several meetings will be held in Hemel Hempstead or London and occasionally in Belfast or Glasgow.
This represents an excellent opportunity to join a high performing, innovative organisation that prioritises both commercial success and positive societal impact.
Application for this post will be via a CV and a Supporting Statement. For a recruitment pack giving further details on the role and appointment process, please visit Group Chair | Morgan Law (morgan-law.com)
